How To Optimize My Web Pages for More Targeted Traffic

Your website's optimization is a vital element of your overall marketing campaign. You can learn and keep updating yourself about various aspects of a website through the vast resources present in the internet any time. So practically, in no time and with minimum efforts, you end up having a great website with good content and eye-catching graphics. But what do you do next?

How do you ensure that people visit your site?

***The first thing to check out is whether or not the pages you have linked to have been penalized. The most direct way to do this is to download the Google toolbar at http://toolbar.google.com. You will then see that most pages are given a "Pagerank" which is represented by a sliding green scale on the Google toolbar.

***Create a good website for users, NOT for search engines. Do NOT present different content to search engines that you display to your users

***Keep the keywords of your site as simple and easy as possible. And even if your use commonly misspelled keywords, you should balance it well with all probable spellings of the same word to maximize traffic flow into your site. Complex and long keywords or words having unusual spellings do not get typed often in the search engines. The keywords must always feature within the body-text of a website. But you should not just keep repeating the same keywords over and over again.

***Concentrate on the ON page and OFF page optimizing. On page deals with getting your description tags and meta tags similar to your webpages. One key fact not to forget is to use tags with the keywords in the content. Off Page optimizing is probably the most important. Without this, you cannot even expect getting visitors on your site. This is nothing but an exercise to get other sites to point to your site, sites that have similar subjects. Another way of off-page optimization is to submit articles to article directories. Articles also help to make your website popular. Submit your articles to around fifty free article directories or websites; this should lead to a good PR in say a couple of months.

***Choose your reciprocal links wisely. The more the links on your site, the better. Search engines appreciate and recognize links. So give as many links as possible in your site--both internal links that link the various web-pages within your site and external links that link to other websites. Connect only to websites that contain related information that readers will enjoy.

***Use your time collecting valuable information on your site, and then tell everyone you can! Offer a web site full of interesting details that similar sites' readers can't live without. The best way to gain readership is by offering a valuable resource! - If you want to improve your Page Ranking try to do not link to sites that are irrelevant to yours and avoid sites that have a "Links Page" that is hard to find.

***Write relevant articles and publish them for free. Make sure to include a Bio Box that includes a link to your site. Stipulate that the article may be reprinted for free as long as the Bio Box is included. This will instantaneously provide extra links to your page when people reprint your work.

***Content plays a vital role when it comes to ranking high in search engines. A good lot of keyword-rich content is always conducive to high listing. The search engines rank websites based on their content proportion. So you should keep lots of content in your site and maximize chances of keyword inclusion in that. Remember, however, keywords alone do not count. Content is just as much essential, precisely because search engines do not give a high rank to websites which are rich in keywords and scarce on content. ***Select words or phrases that target a niche segment. Use the advanced tools available to create a list of relevant keywords which do not attract too much competition in your niche segment.

***Try to use text instead of images to display important names, content, or links. The Search Engines crawler doesn't recognize text contained in images.

***Don't create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with substanially duplicate content. Provide unique, relevant and fresh content to your users with a good grammar, correct spelling, and sentence structure.

***The fastest and most powerful way to make your website known is to submit it to as many relevant web directories as you can. Directory submission is the BEST way to gain targeted traffic to your site. Be sure this is a manual submission (i.e. http://www.WebDirectoryBank.com ). Do not engage an automated submission service.
